Bhutan: Beauty Untamed- Last Day
Bhutan- Beauty Untamed
The trip from Paro to Phuentsholing was long and tiring. We stopped at a local home run place for lunch and are our fill of Ema Datshi, Momos and Chili pickle. At Phuentsholing we saw a Dzong, from where on one border, one can see the plains of Bengal and on the other the hills of Bhutan.
As we headed back home from Bhutan to Bagdogra, I kept thinking of why I wanted to visit Bhutan in the first place. While coming here, I just wanted to visit a remote, neighboring country which always sounded magical and mystical. While going back home, I had different reasons to revisit Bhutan.
To experience that a country’s strength is not due to the GDP or wealth it generates, it lies in the people’s happiness, the governance, the cultural and environment preservation and most important the following of rules by the country ‘s citizens
To experience a visionary government and monarch, who lead from the front and strive for the betterment of its citizens
To learn from the citizen about following rules, being patient and preserving the cultural heritage (every Bhutanese citizen small or old sports the national wear irrespective of their work or background)
To understand the principles of Buddhism
To explore the Dzongs, their architecture and design and history
To explore the untamed nature, unleash the adventurous side of life, understand the power of nature and how minuscule we are in front of it
To savor the spicy food, the chilies, the red rice and the simple yet healthy dishes of this region
To get away from the hustle bustle of city life, slow down, respect the nature (few regions in Bhutan are prohibited from entry for their nature protection) and experience the tranquility shared by nature and sound of silence.
Last and the most important, to disconnect from a overly connected world of today. Even though one can buy a sim and most of the hotels have Wi-Fi, for once try to be off the social media and internet to feel meet your inner self.
